As the world around us continues to change, Sunshine’s commitment to deliver on our mission remains steadfast. While vocational services, supported employment opportunities, and transportation services, among others are temporarily suspended, our commitment to supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in their daily lives remains constant.
Unfortunately, future federal and state funding for our community is unknown. What we do know is that Sunshine will see a decrease in reimbursement in the near future. How much of a decrease remains uncertain, which is why we are reaching out to you for assistance in this time of need.
We find ourselves face-to-face with a challenge unlike any in our lifetime. As a community, we are experiencing increased operational and medical costs, staffing challenges, and program suspensions. On an annual basis, we have over 2,000 volunteers who provide meaningful services to individuals supported by Sunshine, however, due to COVID restrictions, our volunteer resources have been placed on hold. Now more than ever, we must reach out to those closest to us for support. We must remain focused on the front line of our operations and committed to Sunshine’s mission.
In the next 60 days, our goal is to raise $500,000 so we can continue to serve our medically fragile population. Your support will directly impact our increased need of staffing support, medical equipment, and supplies to protect staff and not only those who are most medically fragile, but the entire Sunshine community.
Your generosity allows us to continue providing services that are paramount to the health and well-being of those who rely on us for care. Every dollar in this critical time matters. Please consider a gift to help us through this unprecedented time of need.
From our Sunshine family to yours, thank you for your continued support. Our community is strong and having you as a part of our extended family of care means everything to us. Many blessings to you and your family.
