At Sunshine, the Director of Donor Relations works with the Vice President of Donor Relations to ensure a successful annual fundraising effort. Sunshine’s Coordinator of Donor Relations assists the department in cultivating donors, maintaining donor relationships; managing annual fundraising targets through grants, annual fund solicitations and events. This person also manages a robust donor database and correspondences.

Requirements: An Associate or Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university is required, in addition to one to three years of related experience in fundraising within the nonprofit sector or related for-profit experience in areas such as marketing, communications, public relations, or sales.

To be successful, this person must:

A Manager Trainee at Sunshine develops and oversees services that support individuals with developmental disabilities, their families and staff.

Among the responsibilities:
• Working with individuals and their family and support network to develop a plan of support.
• Assessing needs acuity and supporting documentation using required state assessment tools such as ODDP, IAF, and AAI.
• Ensuring thorough assessment of needs, involving clinical staff as appropriate, including OT, PT, Speech, Medical, Nursing and Behavior Analyst
• Developing, or assisting in the development of, support plans that address needs and preferences of the individual and family and assuring all necessary approvals are in place before implementation.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required, and one or more years’ experience in the field of developmental disabilities, or a combination of education and relevant experience. One or more years’ experience in supervision strongly preferred.

A Sunshine job coach assists people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to learn and perform tasks and duties needed in a competitive, community employment setting. The coach’s responsibilities may include assisting workers in communicating with supervisors, in orientation, and in becoming accustomed to work culture of an employer.

Job coaches also evaluate and work with employers in any concerns of an individual’s job performance, soft skills and other on-the-job performance. A job coach offers solutions that may include job carves, communication options and other reasonable accommodations. The job coach may provide transportation as necessary or coordinate with transportation providers.

A job coach provides support so that individuals may develop vocational, social, and recreational skills and ensures that clients’ needs are met with equipment adaptations and appropriate transportation as necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 2-4 Years of experience in the MR/DD field is preferred but not required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred but not mandatory

Occupational Therapist - Part Time

Occupational Therapist – Part-time

This position offers a flexible schedule at Sunshine Communities, a non-profit which has supported people with intellectual and developmental disabilities since 1950. A part-time occupational therapist will be a member of a larger clinical team of physical, occupational, speech, and behavioral therapists working with men, women and children of all ages.

Therapy is provided in family care homes around the community as well as at Sunshine’s 25-acre campus, which features a therapeutic pool, gym, and vocational building. New grads welcome.

Driver - Part Time

A Sunshine driver transports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to and from home and work as well as trips around the community. Open positions are on 1st and 2nd shifts and will include about 20 hours a week.

Requirements

  • Candidates must have a valid driver’s license with at least 2 years of driving experience and an excellent driving record. Must be able to pass a background check as well as a drug screen and physical exam.
  • Previous work experience in transportation is a plus, but not required.

Life Guard - Part-time or Full-time

Pool

Sunshine’s pool offers time to exercise, relax or connect with each other in fun.

Sunshine Communities is looking for a part-time or full-time lifeguard to assist individuals with developmental disabilities and other guests at our heated pool. Experience lifeguarding is preferred; however, we will provide training for the right candidate. This position provides flexible hours and year-round employment.

Requirements

Candidates must have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must maintain current Red Cross Water Safety and CPR/First Aid certification. May be required to obtain additional certifications for Lifeguard.
